Efficient and high-quality packaging printing with hybrid web offset

Since the introduction of the VSOP sleeve cylinder technology in 2003, DG press has manufactured numerous web offset presses for flexible packaging and label production. DG press’ state of art sleeve offset technology platform DG-AUXO allows for combining superb web offset printing quality with various other printing technologies for efficient and sustainable production of short and mid-long-run flexible packaging and labels.

Web offset with sleeve cylinder technology allows fast and easy changeover from one print repeat length to another without having to replace an entire printing cassette. A new job can be up and running in just a few minutes making web offset ideally suited for short-run flexible packaging and labels.

Printers operating in the label, packaging, and flexible packaging market often serve a diverse range of clients. The demand for fast-moving consumer goods can vary significantly, therefore packaging orders vary from small to very large. Sleeve technology on web offset presses, provide significant benefits in terms of minimising press downtime through extremely fast change-over times.

The web offset presses from DG press can handle flexible substrates starting from 12 microns up to paper substrates as thick as 200 microns. DG press also offers cardboard press configurations with in-line rotary die cutting and stacking.

Web offset printing presses utilising only energy-curable inks, operate completely free from solvents and VOCs. Avoiding hot-air drying and solvent handling provide sustainable and cost-efficient print production. However, some printing applications, like for example rotogravure, are not available as energy-curable technology. In those cases, hot-air drying is the typical drying solution.

Hybrid web offset printing with energy-curable inks is a VOC-free printing method with a significantly lower carbon footprint than flexo- and gravure printing. As a result, hybrid web offset printing is the most environmentally friendly and sustainable printing method available today.

In-Mould Labeling

In-Mould Labeling (IML) is the integration of a label (PP – Propylene e.g.) into the product’s injection process. This can be done in a variety of shapes, and the label is an essential component of the finished product.

Wrap Around

Wrap-around labels are completely wrapped around the product, with a small overlap where one end is glued to the other. Because these labels are easily removed from the container after consumption, the product is highly environmentally friendly and recyclable.

Wet glue labels

Wet Glue Labels are often die-cut in a variety of shapes and sizes. As wet-glue labels are not applied fully around a bottle they require an adhesive to stick and stay in the correct position on an object.

Shrink Sleeves

Shrink sleeve is an application that can be used to completely cover a product. The material is adaptable to a wide range of shapes and will result in flawless product decoration.

Flexible Packaging

Flexible packaging includes pouches and sachets, among other things. These products can be printed on a wide range of materials, including paper, plastic, films, and special barrier layers.

Cardboard

Cardboard packaging is commonly used to provide rigidity and robustness to protect the product inside the, often box-shaped, packaging.

Corrugated board

Besides cardboard for rigid packaging, there is also corrugated board typically used for larger-size boxes. It is difficult to print quality graphics onto a corrugated board. The solution is to apply pre-printed liner paper.

About our machines

We strive to manufacture the best and most versatile hybrid web offset printing presses in the world. Every printing house has different production requirements and needs when it comes to its machine park. Therefore, there is no standard model for our hybrid web offset presses, all of our machines are custom-made based on the request of our clients. This makes every single press we manufacture unique. We know that market demands change rapidly in the world we live in, therefore we maintain excellent possibilities to upgrade, extend, or reconfigure our presses at a later stage.

Investing in a hybrid web offset press from DG press means investing in the future. It is important to note that these are not disposable machines, but rather hybrid web offset printing platforms that are built to last a lifetime.
